What is the climate like?

The climate of Palestine and Israel is pleasant most of the year. Winter lasts three months, from mid-December to mid-March, and can be cold. During the rest of the year, the climate is temperate, with the warmest temperatures in July and August. Summer in the Middle East is facilitated by the breeze from the Mediterranean Sea. In Summer, it's hot during the day, but pretty cool at night and requires a sweater.
The climate in Palestine and Israel is good and the air is pure. Summer temperatures reach 35 degrees Celsius and in winter the temperature can drop to zero.
Bethlehem receives an average of 700 mm of rain per year. The rainy season starts in the second half of the fall (mid October) and continues until late April. Heavy rains, however, fall less than 50 days in the year, with most of the rain falling between November and February.
Palestine and Israel receive an average of seven hours of sunlight during winter days and thirteen hours during the summer.
The average annual relative humidity is 60% and tops out during the months of January and February. In May, however, moisture levels are at their lowest. Evening dew may occur up to 180 days a year. Visitors are therefore advised to wear heavy and warm clothing in winter, while in summer it is advisable to wear light clothing and sweaters for the evening. In addition, a head cover and sunscreen are essential for protection against sunburn.
