Bethlehem

Rachel died and was buried on the road to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem now. (Gn. 35, 19)

But you, Bethlehem (Ephrathah), the least of the clans of Judah, from you will come for me a future ruler of Israel.....(Mi. 5, 1)

So Joseph set out from the town of Nazareth in Galilee for Judaea, to David's town called Bethlehem.

While they were there, the time came for her to have her child and she gave birth to a son, her first-born. (Lk. 2, 4; 6-7)

The House of Bread, the Fertile, the hometown of Boaz and Ruth, the city of David and the birthplace of Jesus. Venerated since the beginning of the first century by all Christians, it became a place of pilgrimage to all believers. The actual Basilica dated from the VI century and built over the grotto where Jesus was born, is the second sanctuary after the first one erected by St. Helen, mother of Emperor Constantine.

This is one of the most sacred places for all people of Christian faith. Come and adore the new born child, the Prince of Peace and feel the heavenly joy that the Shepherds and the Magi Kings had experienced two thousand years ago.
